Gauge & Size

  • Use completed size as gauge, however, gauge is not cruitial and you can have fun playing around with different hook sizes.
  • Completed Size: Diameter (excluding hanger) 14 cm (5.5 inch)

Terms & Abbreviations

Slip Stitch; ss: Insert hook into space, yarn over and pull through stitch and loop on hook.

Chain(s): ch(s): Yarn over, pull through.

Double Crochet(s): dc(s):Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have two loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.

Treble Crochet(s): tr(s): Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.

Back Loop Only: BLO: Working into the back loop of the stitch. This abbreviation will follow with the stitch to be worked. E.g. BLOdc (Back loop only double crochet)

Free Pattern: Crochet Scandi Snowflake

You are viewing this pattern in UK terms.

  • Holding one strand of each yarn together, chain 10, join in first ch with ss to form a circle.
  • Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as first st). 19 dc in circle, ss into the ch-2.
  • Round 2: Ch 5 (counts as tr and ch-2). Tr in same st, 2 dc. *(Tr, ch 2, tr) in next st, 2 dc; repeat from * four more times. (tr, ch 2, tr) in next st, dc. Ss in base of ch-5. dc, 14tr, 14ss>
  • Fasten off. Sew in ends.

Tassels

  • Cut 14 12-cm strands of yarn in Gold and 14 12-cm strands in cream 28 strands in total.
  • With 4 stands (2 of each colour), fold in half. Pull through any ch-2 sp from front to back (if using a hook – insert hook from back to front to pull through).
  • Repeat for all 7 ch-2 sps. You will have 7 tassels.
  • Trim Tassels to 2.5 cm (1 inch) and brush out using a comb (optional).
  • Cut 25.5cm (10 inches) strand for the hanger and thread between any 2 tassels and loop evenly.
  • Using a 4mm hook and bead, thread 2 beads onto the hanger one at a time.

Optional: Insert glue into the centre of the top bead to glue.
