About this Stitch
TheĀ V-StitchĀ is a simple yet striking crochet stitch that creates a delicate, open texture resembling little āVā shapes. Itās made by working two treble crochets (US double crochets) into the same stitch or space, separated by a chain. Itās perfect for adding lightness and interest to your work.

- Yarn: Ā You can use any weight yarn and recommended hook size that can be found on the belly band to your chosen yarn.

Terms & Abbreviations
Chain(s): ch(s):Ā Yarn over, pull through loop on the hook.
Slip Stitch(s): ss(s):Ā Insert hook, yarn over, pull through stitch and loop on hook.
Treble Crochet(s): tr(s): Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.
Special Stitches
V-Stitch: (v-st):Ā workĀ tr, 1 ch,Ā trĀ in indicated sp.

Free Crochet Pattern: V-Stitch Square
You are viewing this pattern in UK terms.
Foundation:Ā Ch 4 and ss in 4th ch from hook to form a circle.
Round 1:Ā (Ch 4,Ā tr) counts as first v-st, ch3. *v-st, ch 3; repeat from * twice more. Join with ss in third ch from beg ch-4. [8Ā tr, 4 ch-1, 4 ch-3]
Round 2:Ā Ch 3 *v-st in next ch-1 sp, (v-st, ch 3, v-st) in ch-3 sp; repeat from * twice more, v-st in next ch-1 sp, (v-st, ch 3, v-st, ch 1) in last ch-3 sp. Join with ss in top of beg ch-3. [24Ā tr, 12 ch-1, 4 ch3]
Round 3:Ā Ch 3, *v-st in each ch-1 sp to the corner, (v-st, ch 3, v-st) in corner ch-3 sp; repeat from * to last ch-1 sp. (Tr, ch 1) in last ch-1 sp, ss in top of beg ch-3. [40Ā tr, 5 ch-1, 4 ch-3]
Round 4:Ā Ch 3, *v-st in each ch-1 sp to the corner**, (v-st, ch 3, v-st) in corner ch-3 sp; rep from *Ā twice, repeat from * to ** to beginning ch-1 sp, (tr, ch 1) in same sp as beg ch-3, ss in top of beg ch-3. [56Ā tr, 7 ch-1, 4 ch-3]
Repeat round 4 until desired size.
Fasten off. Sew in ends.
